Ayurvedic Tips for Spring Season Wellness: Vasanta Ritucharya Regimen



Vasanth ritu – spring season (March  andapril )

In this season, breeze flows from south to north direction, Sun being so intense and red, New leaves and flowers blossoms, highlighting the importance of following a seasonal regimen.  along with new barks  with fragrance around

Kapha ,which had got increased and accumulated in winter ,melts off due to the initiation of  increased  temperature in this season


Dosha Avastha and the influence of vata, pita, and doshas.

The Dosha predominant in this Ritu is Kapha. Kapha Dosha is in Prakopaavastha during Vasantha Rutu


Agni and the balance of doshas.

Agni seesm to be diminished which could be due to kapha prakopa in the body diminishing the agni


Bala

Moderate balaavastha of people


Pathya  Ahara

·       Foods that are easily digestible like barley ,wheat ,godhuma .meat of rabbit ,jangalamamsa  and fermented sidhu and andmadhvika

·       Intake of tikshna ,rooksha ,katu ,kshara ,kashaya and ushna ,solid kind of food articles like green gram ,honey is advised

·       Liquids like sunti infused water ,honey water ,mustha water  and  asnachandanadi drugs infused water

 

·       Avoid guru ,snigdha ,amla and madhuraaharadravya ,sour,curd,fats  should be avoided


Pathya Vihara

·       All type of exercises like wrestling ,walking with bare foot is advised

·       One should bathe regularly and should apply

·       some natural fragrance on body.

·       Avoid exposure to direct air according to Ayurveda.

·       Oils massage should be done as per the daily routine (dinacharya) recommendations in Ayurveda.

·       Chandan (santanamalbum) and Aguru(aquilariaagallocha) should be applied on the body.

·       Uptan (facial) should be done as part of a ritucharya in Ayurveda.

·       During the spring season one should spend time in this season in forest or gardens which have cool breeze from south direction, with plenty of reservoirs of water all around with only a poor sunlight, the land covered with shining crystals


Apathya Vihara

Day sleep is strictly to be avoided according to daily routine (dinacharya) in Ayurveda.


Panchakarma

·       Vamana

Shodana of kapha can be purified by therapeutic emesis. It helps to eliminate the excess kapha and maintains the homeostasis of the body, according to Ayurveda. 

·       Shirovirechana / Nasya –

A procedure in which kapha is expelled from nose and throat 

·       Niruha Basti is also advised in Vasanta Ritu

·       Udwartana, kavala, gandhusha, anjana, dhoomapana are part of daily routine (dinacharya) in Ayurveda.  are also can be performed as a part of daily regimen

In vasanth ritu ,the water element in body thats kapha gets aggravated and its characterised by heaviness ,sluggishness and excess mucous production in vasantha ritu.


What should we eat in Vasant Ritu diet?

One should take easily digestible Foods like cereals, wheat, rice, old barley, pulses, lentils, mudga are advised according to Ayurveda.
