Effective Ayurvedic Remedies for Soothing Sore Throats

Understanding Sore Throat:

Sore throats, often caused by viral infections, manifest through symptoms like mild pain, difficulty in swallowing, and throat swelling. Major causes include cold, flu, bacterial infections, allergies, dry atmosphere, and GERD (acid reflux disease).

Home Remedies for Sore Throat:

Gargle with Ayurvedic Decoctions:

  • Henna leaves: Gargle or use as a decoction.

  • Cardamom powder: Dissolve in water, strain, and gargle.

  • Methi seeds: Boil in water, strain, and gargle.

  • Basil water: Gargle with water boiled with Basil leaves, turmeric, and water. Licorice Remedies:

  • Take 1 tsp licorice powder with honey twice a day.

  • Add licorice powder to warm water for gargling. Concoctions for Relief:

  • Honey and lemon juice in warm water.

  • Ginger and honey tea.

  • Red hibiscus tea high in Vitamin C.

  • Yashtimadhu (licorice roots) decoction with honey.

  • Triphala powder in water, consumed in the morning. Traditional Approaches:

  • Chew betel leaves for sore throat relief.

  • Cloves with numbing properties for dry cough.

  • Giloy for anti-inflammatory throat relief. Herbal Infusions:

  • Mint leaves, ginger, water, and lemongrass concoction.

  • Coriander seed and ginger mix with honey twice a day.

  • Amla juice for cough and sore throat.

  • Fenugreek and cinnamon decoctions for relief.

  • Bedtime Soothing:

  • Warm milk with dry ginger powder
